Florist and Floral Educator

Who is The Posy Crew…??

Hi, I’m Debra and I am The Posy Crew.

Flowers have been such a big part of my life for more than two decades and even after all this time, I still feel so grateful to do work that I truly love. Floristry for me is so much more than making something look beautiful. It is a craft I care deeply about. It is the skill, the thought, the feeling and the care that goes into creating something meaningful for someone else.

I live and work from my home studio in the rainforest outside Port Douglas in Far North Queensland, and that natural environment shapes so much of what I create. I am constantly inspired by the movement of foliage, the layers of the landscape, the rich textures and the imperfect beauty found in nature. That sense of wildness and beauty always finds its way into my work.

Over the years, I have built The Posy Crew around the things I value most, thoughtful design, genuine connection and creating flowers that feel personal and memorable. I specialise in wedding, event and corporate florals and I love helping people bring their ideas to life in a way that feels elevated, creative and true to them.

I have always believed that learning is an important part of being a florist, and I have continued to study and grow throughout my career, both here in Australia and overseas. Most recently, I completed my International Master Florist Certification in Holland, which was such a meaningful milestone for me. I am also incredibly proud to have received Gold and Silver Gilt medals at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show.

Alongside my design work, I also wear a few other hats that I love just as much. I am a floristry teacher and mentor, the editor and publisher of Flowers Magazine Australia, and the host of The Flowery Folk podcast. Each part of my work comes back to the same passion sharing the beauty, value and depth of floristry with others.

At the heart of it all, I am simply someone who loves flowers, loves this industry and feels very lucky to create, teach and contribute in the ways that I do.

Thank you for being here and for taking an interest in what I do. It really does mean a lot.
